    Privacy Policy

    1. Who is responsible for your data

    ALightSpace is an AI interior design platform made by Light Design Factory. Two companies are responsible for your personal data ("data controllers"), depending on where you live.

    We tell you which one applies when you sign up. In this policy, "we" means that company. To reach us about your data, write to legal@alightspace.ai.

    2. Information we collect

    We collect what you give us, what we create for you, and how you use the service.

    • Account details: name, email, password (stored hashed), date of birth, and country or region. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your name, email and profile basics from them.
    • Guardian details: if you are 13 to 17, your parent or guardian's email address, and the time they approved your account.
    • Photos and designs: the room photos you upload, and the designs we generate from them. Photos of rooms can show personal belongings or people, so please upload only images you have the right to use.
    • Project and preference details: space type, style, budget, city, quiz answers, favourites, saved shopping lists, and any details you add to a project.
    • Designer collaboration: messages and files you exchange with a designer inside ALightSpace.
    • Payments: the plan or credit pack you buy, amount, currency, and payment status. Card details go straight to Stripe or Flutterwave. We do not receive or store your full card number.
    • Use of the service: pages viewed, buttons clicked, links followed to partner stores, device and browser type, and your approximate location (country level) from your IP address. Some of this is collected with cookies or similar tools, subject to your choice (see our Cookie Policy).
    • Messages to us: support requests and emails.
    • Donations: if you give to the HappySpace Project, the amount and time of the donation.

    We do not knowingly collect special categories of data such as health or religious information. Please do not put them in free-text fields.

    3. How we use your data

    We use your data to run ALightSpace, and each use needs a lawful reason. The reasons below are those the UK and EU GDPR and Nigeria's Data Protection Act recognise.

    We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your photos to train our own AI models, and we send them to our AI provider only to create your design. [CONFIRM with engineering: the provider's data-use setting is off for training]

    4. Who we share data with

    We share data only as needed to run ALightSpace, and we do not sell it.

    • Service providers. Companies that process data on our instructions: cloud hosting and database (Vercel, Neon), image storage, AI image generation (Replicate and its model providers), email delivery, analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase and Vercel Analytics), and payments (Stripe and Flutterwave). They may use the data only to provide their service to us.
    • Designers. If you choose "Work with a designer", the matched designer sees your project: its name, space type, photos and the details you filled in. They do not see your name, email or phone number, and all conversation stays inside ALightSpace.
    • Partner stores. When you click a product, you leave ALightSpace and go to that store. The store learns that ALightSpace sent you, through a tracking ID. It does not receive your name or email from us. Its own privacy policy applies once you are there.
    • Public showcase. Only if you opt in, and only the designs you choose.
    • Authorities and advisers. Where the law requires, to protect rights and safety, or to our lawyers and accountants under confidentiality.
    • Business changes. If ALightSpace is sold or merged, your data may move to the new owner, who must honour this policy.

    5. International transfers

    We operate from Nigeria and the United States, and our service providers work in other countries, so your data can be processed outside the country where you live. When data from the UK, EEA or Switzerland is sent to a country without an adequacy decision, we use approved safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. For users in Nigeria and other African countries, we follow the cross-border transfer conditions in the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and local law.     6. How long we keep your data

    Your designs and photos are kept as long as your account is open. You can delete any image, or your whole account, at any time.

    We may keep data longer if the law requires it, or to deal with a legal claim, abuse or illegal content.

    7. Your rights

    You have the right to:

    • Access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy.
    • Correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
    • Delete your data, including single images or your whole account.
    • Restrict or object to certain uses, such as marketing.
    • Move your data to another service, in a common format, where it applies.
    • Withdraw consent at any time, for example for marketing emails, analytics cookies or the public showcase. This does not affect what we did before you withdrew.

    How to use them. Delete images or your account in Settings. For anything else, email legal@alightspace.ai from the address on your account. We answer within 30 days and may ask you to confirm who you are first.

    Complaints. You can complain to the data protection authority where you live, for example the Information Commissioner's Office (UK), your EU data protection authority, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or the equivalent regulator in Ghana, Kenya or South Africa. We would like the chance to fix the problem first.

    8. Children and young people

    You must be 13 or older to use ALightSpace. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13, and we delete it if we find we have.

    If you are 13 to 17, a parent or guardian must approve your account before you can use it. We email them a link that explains what ALightSpace is and links to this policy. Until you turn 18 you cannot buy credits or plans, use designer services, join the public showcase or receive marketing emails. When you turn 18 we remove these limits and delete your guardian's email address.

    In plain words, if you are under 18: we ask a grown-up to say yes so your photos and designs stay safe. You can delete anything you upload at any time. If you have a question, ask us at legal@alightspace.ai, or ask your parent or guardian to.

    A parent or guardian can ask us to see, correct or delete a child's data at the same address.

    9. Security

    We protect your data with encryption in transit, hashed passwords, private image storage served through expiring links, and access limited to the people who need it. Payments are handled by Stripe and Flutterwave. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the regulators as the law requires.

    10. Changes to this policy

    We may update this policy. For a material change we will email active users and show a notice in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. The version number and date at the top always show the current text.
